I Screwed Up Despite Best Efforts

…But little Mouse, you are not alone,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes of mice and men
Go often askew,
And leave us nothing but grief and pain,
For promised joy!

I Screwed Up

Create Your Life Story is all about the importance of communicating to each other, to share opinions and ideas.

For eight months I’ve been wondering why I’ve been only hearing crickets in the comments! I thought that maybe you don’t like commenting, or you don’t have anything to say or maybe, just maybe… you don’t think much of what I’ve been producing. But the download numbers are in contradiction.

Then last week I published Episode 43 with Jane about the wonderful benefits that have evolved from publishing her Dad’s life story. She mentioned to me that she had tried to post a comment and had to log in.

WHAT!!! I thought. No one should need to log in!

The obvious was missed

I’m always logged into Create Your Life Story so I always see the comment window under each post but when I logged out, log in was required – Oops, that could explain the no comments for eight months.

Over the last few days I’ve done all that I can to get the comments back onto the site. This is where the frustration of not knowing the technology as much as I would like can cause me to come unstuck but yesterday I solved the problem with a work around. I still don’t know the cause of the failure of the comments but at least now they’re back.

This is one of those situations where the obvious wasn’t noticed and I want to express my frustration and disappointment at missing so many great comments that you may have wanted to make over the months. You have no idea how much comments, emails, Facebook comments and tweets mean to me. It’s the very juice that keeps me working at producing the best content that I can.

Please let me know

I now have a routine to log out twice a month and use Create Your Life Story as you use it but I would also like to ask something from you. If you see something that doesn’t behave in a way that makes sense to you, please let me know and I’ll do what I can to make your life easier.

I realise that the horse has already bolted but if you have something to say relative to a previous post or podcast episode I would still love to know your thoughts and I’m sure there are people just like you who would love to know what you think.

…And if you want to there is a comment field that is now turned on below ↓

@dave and thanks for making the first comment in eight months

Glad comments are up and running again! 😉
